Richard has launched aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station. Over the last few months Richard has prepared a suite of activities that he intends to complete during his spaceflight and stay on board the International Space Station. Activities range from scientific research through to educational projects and commercial sponsorship activities.

Yes, you’ve heard it right, we will conduct experiments in outer space.
We would conduct protein crystallization experiments in outer space with proteins that have important cellular functions and are usually associated with common human diseases. Having access to these superior crystals will enable researchers to learn more about the molecular details of these proteins which is essential for protein engineering and structure-guided drug design.
The experiments will be carried out by Richard Garriott, the son of former NASA astronaut Owen Garriott who is the co-founder of Extremozyme, Inc.
